Bismut & Bismut: Unveiling Remarkable Furniture Collection in the Middle East

Bismut & Bismut, the talented French architects and interior designers, are set to unveil their remarkable furniture collection in the Middle East for the first time.

This dynamic duo, comprising brothers Daniel and Michel Bismut, share such a close bond that they finish each other’s sentences and sketches, making them a seamless creative team. Their impressive portfolio includes everything from exquisite accessories for Dior to designing luxurious homes.

The C Chair

The C Chair perfectly exemplifies their love for combining different textures, featuring a captivating mix of wood, metal, and fabric. The back of the chair boasts a striking copper frame, while the wood takes inspiration from weathered driftwood, effortlessly blending the contrasting elements of sharpness and warmth, modernity and antiquity.

The journey to create the C Chair was no easy feat. Michel had attempted to design his ideal chair for years, but he was never satisfied with the results. However, the prospect of opening a splendid gallery in Megéve in 2022 proved to be the much-needed push. Michel realized that such a significant space required an exceptional chair, and the challenge was on.

Bismut & Bismut has an impressive history of furnishing elegant and intriguing furniture for high-end hotels, luxury apartments, and prominent brands like Cartier. Despite their remarkable portfolio, the absence of a signature chair haunted Michel, driving him to embark on the design quest with newfound determination. Within a day of sketching, he had a concept that thrilled him. He eagerly shared it with his brother Daniel, and together, within just 15 days, they had a remarkable mockup—a testament to their shared passion and ingenuity.

Offering versatility and aesthetic appeal, the C Chair comes in two elegant variations—one featuring dark black-painted wood, and the other showcasing a clean oak finish that illuminates beautifully under light, accentuating the copper frame and fabric.

Simplicity, as Michel explains, was at the heart of their challenge—to create a chair that meets the basic functional requirements while still exuding a sense of uniqueness. The C Chair was born from their desire to craft something truly different.

The brothers’ creative process is a dynamic exchange of ideas, where they effortlessly build upon each other’s concepts. This intuitive connection allows them to effortlessly collaborate and produce designs that bear both of their distinctive imprints.

Their upbringing in an artistic environment, with their father and grandfather being furniture artists, further fueled their passion for design and artistry. Michel fondly recalls how the concept for the C Chair unfolded alongside their work on four houses in Portugal and a stunning Bismut & Bismut-designed yacht.

Every day is an adventure for them, as he continuously moves from one project to another. This ever-changing landscape of creativity keeps the work exciting and inspiring for the brothers and their team of 10 to 12 individuals at Bismut & Bismut.
